I worked for Tom Mankiewicz on a few of his productions, so I was very excited to read this book. Tom had an interesting life, growing up in the film business. After a day's work was complete, he would share with us stories... all kinds of stories. Some from the "old days", some were just recollections of something recent. But they were always interesting, and always ended with a laugh. What a great storyteller he was. In addition to this, he had a way of making everyone on the crew feel welcome. Such a rich film background, yet he was kind and welcoming to everyone. It didn't matter if you were a grip, a driver, a writer or an actor. (SO rare in film nowadays.)This book is written just like he used to tell stories to us at the end of a day's work. He knew and worked with so many people, and "rescued" so many scripts. If you have any interest in film, this book will not disappoint.
